«This is the King of the Jews»
Today's Gospel makes us raise our eyes to the cross on which Christ is in agony on Calvary. Here we see the Good Shepherd giving up his life for his flock. And, there up high is the sign that reads, «This is the King of the Jews» (Lk 23,38). This man who is suffering so horribly whose face has been so disfigured, is the King? Could it be possible? The good thief, one of the two men condemned at each side of Jesus, understands. He says with faith, «Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom» (Lk 23,42). Jesus' reply is consoling and certain, «Truly, you will be with me today in paradise»(Lk 23,43).
Yes, we profess that Jesus is King. “King” with a capital “K”. Nobody could ever be at such a level of royalty. The Kingdom of God is not of this world. It is a Kingdom that is entered through Christian conversion. A Kingdom of truth and life, a Kingdom of holiness and grace, a Kingdom of justice, love and peace. A Kingdom that is born from the Blood and water that pours from Jesus' side.
The Kingdom of God was a primordial theme in Our Lord's teaching. He never ceased to invite people to enter it. Once, in the Sermon on the Mount, He proclaimed blessed the poor in spirit, for they would inherit the Kingdom.
Origenes, commenting on Jesus' saying that «The Kingdom of God is amongst you» (Lk 17,21), explains that he who asks that the Kingdom of God comes, is rightly doing so of the Kingdom of God that he has in his interior, that it be born, be fruitful and that it mature. He adds that «the Kingdom of God that we have inside us, if we progress in a continues way, will achieve its fullness when that which the apostle says is accomplished: that Christ, once his enemies are subdued, will put His Kingdom in the Hands of God The Father, and that way God will be everything in everybody». The writer exhorts us to always say «Hallowed be thy name, thy Kingdom come».
We should live in the Kingdom now with holiness and we should be witnesses to the charity that testifies the authenticity of faith and hope.

Christ Jesus, I acknowledge You King of the universe.
All that has been created has been made for You.
Make full use of Your rights over me. I renew the promises I made in Baptism, when I renounced Satan and all his pomps and works, and I promise to live a good Christian life and to do all in my power to procure the triumph of the rights of God and Your Church.
Divine Heart of Jesus, I offer you my efforts in order to obtain that all hearts may acknowledge your Sacred Royalty, and that thus the Kingdom of Your peace may be established throughout the
universe. Amen.

THE DIVINE MERCY DEVOTION will be this Sunday, November 24th at 3:00 p.m. There will be confessions during the Chaplet and we will end at 4:00 p.m. with the Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament. Everyone is invited.
The Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament in the St. Michael Chapel continues next Tuesday, November 26th from 7:00 a.m. until 5:30 p.m.
THANKSGIVING DAY. Thursday, November 28th is Thanksgiving Day. We will have a Bilingual mass at 10:00 a.m. Everyone is invited to come and give thanks to God for all His blessings.

Pope Pius XI instituted the Feast of Christ the King in his encyclical Quas primas of 1925, in response to growing secularism and nationalism, and in the context of the unresolved Roman Question.
The title of the feast was "Domini Nostri Jesu Christi Regis" (Our Lord Jesus Christ the King), and the date was established as "the last Sunday of the month of October – the Sunday, that is, which immediately precedes the Feast of All Saints". In Pope John XXIII's revision of the Calendar in 1960, the date and title were unchanged but, according to the simplification of the ranking of feasts, it was classified as a feast of the first class.
In his motu proprio Mysterii Paschalis of 1969, Pope Paul VI amended the title of the Feast to "D. N. Iesu Christi universorum Regis" (Our Lord Jesus Christ King of the Universe). He also moved it to the new date of the final Sunday of the liturgical year, before the commencement of a new liturgical year on the First Sunday of Advent (the earliest date for which is 27 November). Through this choice of date "the scatological importance of this Sunday is made clearer". He assigned to it the highest rank of "solemnity".
In 2019, the Solemnity day falls on 24 November. The liturgical vestments for the day are colored white or gold, in keeping with other joyous feasts honoring Christ.
In the extraordinary form, as happens with all Sundays whose liturgies are replaced by those of important feasts, the prayers of the Sunday on which the celebration of the feast of Christ the King occurs are used on the ferias (weekdays) of the following week. The Sunday liturgy is thus not totally omitted. In 2018, the Solemnity day falls on 27 October for those using the former calendar.

Nuestro Señor Jesucristo Rey del Universo

«Éste es el Rey de los judíos»
Hoy, el Evangelio nos hace elevar los ojos hacia la cruz donde Cristo agoniza en el Calvario. Ahí vemos al Buen Pastor que da la vida por las ovejas. Y, encima de todo hay un letrero en el que se lee: «Éste es el Rey de los judíos» (Lc 23,38). Este que sufre horrorosamente y que está tan desfigurado en su rostro, ¿es el Rey? ¿Es posible? Lo comprende perfectamente el buen ladrón, uno de los dos ajusticiados a un lado y otro de Jesús. Le dice con fe suplicante: «Jesús, acuérdate de mí cuando vengas con tu Reino» (Lc 23,42). La respuesta de Jesús es consoladora y cierta: «Yo te aseguro: hoy estarás conmigo en el Paraíso» (Lc 23,43).
Sí, confesemos que Jesús es Rey. “Rey” con mayúscula. Nadie estará nunca a la altura de su realeza. El Reino de Jesús no es de este mundo. Es un Reino en el que se entra por la conversión cristiana. Un Reino de verdad y de vida, Reino de santidad y de gracia, Reino de justicia, de amor y de paz. Un Reino que sale de la Sangre y el agua que brotaron del costado de Jesucristo.
El Reino de Dios fue un tema primordial en la predicación del Señor. No cesaba de invitar a todos a entrar en él. Un día, en el Sermón de la montaña, proclamó bienaventurados a los pobres en el espíritu, porque ellos son los que poseerán el Reino.
Orígenes, comentando la sentencia de Jesús «El Reino de Dios ya está entre vosotros» (Lc 17,21), explica que quien suplica que el Reino de Dios venga, lo pide rectamente de aquel Reino de Dios que tiene dentro de él, para que nazca, fructifique y madure. Añade que «el Reino de Dios que hay dentro de nosotros, si avanzamos continuamente, llegará a su plenitud cuando se haya cumplido aquello que dice el Apóstol: que Cristo, una vez sometidos quienes le son enemigos, pondrá el Reino en manos de Dios el Padre, y así Dios será todo en todos». El escritor exhorta a que digamos siempre «Sea santificado tu nombre, venga a nosotros tu Reino».

a sus seducciones y a sus obras;

Divino Corazón de Jesús,
te ofrezco mis pobres obras para conseguir que todos los corazones reconozcan tu sagrada realeza

LA DEVOCION A LA DIVINA MISERICORDIA será hoy domingo 24 de noviembre a las 3:00 p.m. Habrá una pequeña meditación, y confesiones durante el rezo de la coronilla, finalizará a las 4:00 p.m. con la bendición del Santísimo. Todos están invitados.
ADORACION. La adoración del Santísimo en la capilla de San Miguel continúa este martes, 26 de noviembre de 7:00 a.m. a 5:30 p.m.

HISTORIA DE CRISTO REY
La celebración de la Solemnidad de Nuestro Señor Jesucristo, Rey del Universo, cierra el Año Litúrgico en el que se ha meditado sobre todo el misterio de su vida, su predicación y el anuncio del Reino de Dios.
La fiesta de Cristo Rey fue instaurada por el Papa Pío XI el 11 de diciembre de 1925. El Papa quiso motivar a los católicos a reconocer en público que el mandatario de la Iglesia es Cristo Rey.
Durante el anuncio del Reino, Jesús nos muestra lo que éste significa para nosotros como Salvación, Revelación y Reconciliación ante la mentira mortal del pecado que existe en el mundo. Jesús responde a Pilatos cuando le pregunta si en verdad Él es el Rey de los judíos: "Mi Reino no es de este mundo. Si mi Reino fuese de este mundo mi gente habría combatido para que no fuese entregado a los judíos; pero mi Reino no es de aquí" (Jn 18, 36). Jesús no es el Rey de un mundo de miedo, mentira y pecado, Él es el Rey del Reino de Dios que trae y al que nos conduce.
Que Viva Cristo Rey
¡Oh Cristo, Tú eres mi Rey! Dame un corazón caballeroso para contigo. Magnánimo en mi vida: escogiendo todo cuanto sube hacia arriba, no lo que se arrastra hacia abajo.
Magnánimo en mi trabajo: viendo en él no una carga que se me impone, sino la misión que Tú me confías. Magnánimo en el sufrimiento: verdadero soldado tuyo ante mi cruz, verdadero Cireneo para las cruces de los demás.
Magnánimo con el mundo: perdonando sus pequeñeces, pero no cediendo en nada a sus máximas.
Magnánimo con los hombres: leal con todos, más sacrificado por los humildes y por los pequeños, celoso por arrastrar hacia Ti a todos los que me aman.
Magnánimo con mis superiores: viendo en su autoridad la belleza de tu Rostro, que me fascina.
Magnánimo conmigo mismo: jamás replegado sobre mí, siempre apoyado en Ti.
Magnánimo contigo: Oh Cristo Rey: orgulloso de vivir para servirte, dichoso de morir, para perderme en Ti.
