«Jesus, Master, have pity on us!»
Today, once again, we may substantiate how our attitude of faith may stir up Jesus Christ's heart. The fact is that some lepers, overcoming the social dislike they all suffered, and quite boldly too, came to meet Jesus and —we could say in quotation marks— coerced him with their trustworthy petition: «Jesus, Master, have pity on us!» (Lk 17:13).
Jesus' reaction is immediate and sudden: «Go and show yourselves to the priests» (Lk 17:14). He, who is the Lord, shows his power, for «as they went their way, they found they were cured» (Lk 17:14).
This attests that the measure of Christ's miracles is, precisely, the measure of our faith and confidence in God. What else are we to do —poor creatures— in front of God, but trust him? But with an operative faith, that forces us to abide by God's wishes. A minimum of common sense will suffice to understand that «nothing is too difficult to believe in if referring to He, whom nothing is too difficult for» (Blessed J. H. Newman). If do not see more miracles is because we do not really “obligate” our Lord, lacking confidence and obedience to him. As St. John Crysostom said, «little faith can achieve a lot».
And, a flood of joy and gratitude crowned that faith in God when, «one of them, as soon as he saw he was cleansed, turned back praising God in a loud voice, and throwing himself on his face before Jesus, he gave him thanks» (Lk 17:15-16).
But..., what a shame! Out of ten benefiting from that great miracle, only one came back. How ungrateful are we when we so easily forget that all we have comes from God and that we owe everything to him! Let us resolve to oblige him from now on while demonstrating our gratitude and faith in him.

PARISH ANNOUNCEMENTS
TODAY’S second collection is for the electricity and the maintenance of the church. Thank you.
The altar servers. The altar servers will be installed this Sunday, October 13, 2019 at the 11:00 a.m. Mass. The parish is invited to attend. Please continue to pray for them.
MONTH OF THE ROSARY. Our parish will have a 24 hour Rosary adoration this Tuesday, October 15th from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 a.m. the next morning October 16th. Holy Mass is at 6:30 a.m. We will be praying for the Church, the World and for the reparation of sins. There will be a period of silence each hour to make your own personal petitions to our Blessed Mother. All are invited to come together to pray the Rosary and bring peace in our world of conflict and turmoil.
The Religious Education classes are every Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. in the Parish Hall. You are still on time to register your child. We ask you to bring your child baptism certificate when you come to register.
OUR SECOND COLLECTION next weekend October 19-20th will be for the World Mission Sunday. Thank you.
CONCERT. The Concert in honor of our blessed Virgin Mary will be held next Sunday, October 20, 2019 at 3:00 p.m. in the hospitality lounge. Anyone interested in participating in the concert can contact Joanna Jn-Baptiste at 340-473-6737. See you there!!
October is Respect Life Month
From the time we are knit together in our mothers’ wombs until we take our final breaths, each moment of our lives is a gift from God. While every season of life brings its own challenges and trials, each season also gives us opportunities to grow in relationship with Him. As new attacks on human life continue to emerge, we might be tempted to despair, but Christ instead offers us unfailing hope.
Christ’s promise of salvation does not mean that we will be spared from suffering, but rather that even in the darkest moments of our lives, we will be given the strength to persevere. For this reason, a woman experiencing a difficult pregnancy can find the strength to welcome her precious child into the world. A man facing a terminal diagnosis can see that the end of his earthly life is the beginning of eternal life with Christ. When the seas of life swell and we are battered by the waves, hope allows us to remain anchored in the heart of God. May we hold fast to Christ, our hope, from the beginning of life to its very end.

«¡Jesús, Maestro, ten compasión de nosotros!»
Hoy podemos comprobar, ¡una vez más!, cómo nuestra actitud de fe puede remover el corazón de Jesucristo. El hecho es que unos leprosos, venciendo la reprobación social que sufrían los que tenían la lepra y con una buena dosis de audacia, se acercan a Jesús y —podríamos decir entre comillas— le obligan con su confiada petición: «¡Jesús, Maestro, ten compasión de nosotros!» (Lc 17,13).
La respuesta es inmediata y fulminante: «Id y presentaos a los sacerdotes» (Lc 17,14). Él, que es el Señor, muestra su poder, ya que «mientras iban, quedaron limpios» (Lc 17,14).
Esto nos muestra que la medida de los milagros de Cristo es, justamente, la medida de nuestra fe y confianza en Dios. ¿Qué hemos de hacer nosotros —pobres criaturas— ante Dios, sino confiar en Él? Pero con una fe operativa, que nos mueve a obedecer las indicaciones de Dios. Basta un mínimo de sentido común para entender que «nada es demasiado difícil de creer tocando a Aquel para quien nada es demasiado difícil de hacer» (Beato J. H. Newman). Si no vemos más milagros es porque “obligamos” poco al Señor con nuestra falta de confianza y de obediencia a su voluntad. Como dijo san Juan Crisóstomo, «un poco de fe puede mucho».
Y, como coronación de la confianza en Dios, llega el desbordamiento de la alegría y del agradecimiento: en efecto, «uno de ellos, viéndose curado, se volvió glorificando a Dios en alta voz; y postrándose rostro en tierra a los pies de Jesús, le daba gracias» (Lc 17,15-16).
Pero..., ¡qué lástima! De diez beneficiarios de aquel gran milagro, sólo regresó uno. ¡Qué ingratos somos cuando olvidamos con tanta facilidad que todo nos viene de Dios y que a él todo lo debemos! Hagamos el propósito de obligarle mostrándonos confiados en Dios y agradecidos a Él.

ORACIÓN por los NIÑOS NO NACIDOS
Señor Jesús, por medio de tu Madre bendita, te ofrezco todos mis pensamientos, palabras y obras de este día por todas las intenciones de tu Sagrado Corazón. Especialmente, te ofrezco todos los actos de fe y de amor para obtener de tu Sagrado Corazón la gracia del bautismo para todos los niños inocentes, que serán asesinados hoy por el aborto. Y, dado que sus propios padres y madres rechazarán su vida con violencia y rehúsan ser garantes de la fe de estos niños, te pido que me aceptes como padre y madre espiritual de estos niños. Acéptame como garante del deseo de estos niños de estar contigo por siempre para que, habiendo sido asesinados cruelmente, ellos puedan ser admitidos a tu presencia como mártires inocentes y sean salvados por tu amor. Amén

ANUNCIOS DE LA PARROQUIA
LA SEGUNDA COLECTA de hoy es para la electricidad y el mantenimiento de la iglesia. Gracias.
MONAGUILLOS. Los monaguillos serán instalados hoy domingo 13 de octubre durante la misa de las 11:00 a.m. Todos están invitados a asistir. Por favor, continúen orando por ellos.
MES DEL ROSARIO. Octubre es el mes del Rosario. "El Rosario es el más hermoso y rico en gracias de todas las oraciones" –Papa Pío X. Nosotros aqui en San José tendremos una adoración del Rosario por 24 horas, este martes 15 de octubre de 8:00 a.m. a 6:00 a.m. de la mañana siguiente 16 de octubre, seguido por la misa a las 6:30 a.m. Estaremos orando por la Iglesia, el mundo y por la reparación de los pecados. Habrá un tiempo de silencio cada hora para hacer sus propias peticiones personales a nuestra Santísima Madre. Todos están invitados a unirse a nosotros para rezar el Rosario y traer paz en nuestro mundo de conflictos y turbulencias. El rosario en español se rezara de 7:00 p.m. a 9:00 p.m.
MATRICULA. La matrícula para las clases de catecismo se está llevando a cabo en el Salón de Hospitalidad todos los sábados de 9:00 a.m. a 11:00 p.m. Les pedimos que traigan el certificado de bautismo de su niño/a cuando vengan. Las clases ya han comenzado y son todos los sábado de 9:00 a.m. a 11:00 a.m.
LOS MIEMBROS DEL COMITE DE FINANZAS Y CONSEJO PARROQUIAL tendrán una reunión el sábado 19 de octubre a las 11:00 a.m. Favor de ser puntuales.

Octubre mes de respeto a la vida
Desde el momento en que fuimos tejidos en el vientre de nuestra madre hasta que exhalemos el último suspiro, cada momento de nuestra vida es un don de Dios. Aunque cada etapa de la vida trae sus propios desafíos y pruebas, también nos brinda nuevas oportunidades para crecer en nuestra relación con Dios. A medida que siguen surgiendo nuevos ataques a la vida humana, podemos sentirnos tentados a desesperarnos, pero en cambio Cristo nos ofrece una esperanza inquebrantable.
La salvación que Cristo nos promete no significa que nos libraremos del sufrimiento. Más bien, la promesa de salvación asegura que, incluso en los momentos más oscuros de nuestra vida, se nos dará la fuerza para perseverar. Por esta razón, una mujer que atraviesa por un embarazo difícil puede encontrar la fuerza para acoger a su preciado hijo en el mundo. Un hombre que enfrenta un diagnóstico terminal puede ver que el final de su vida terrenal es solo el comienzo de la vida eterna con Cristo. Cuando los mares de la vida se hinchan y las olas nos golpean, la esperanza nos permite permanecer anclados en el corazón de Dios. Aferrémonos a Cristo nuestra esperanza, desde el principio de la vida hasta su fin.
